Support Worker

12 hours per week (£4,886 pa (full time equivalent 37 hours £15,065 pa)

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience of working in a supportive role with disabled people or holding an NVQ2 in Health and Social Care (or an equivalent in a related field (e.g. health, social care, education etc.). You will be part of a team of staff and volunteers supporting clients in groups or on a one-to-one basis. You will assist, encourage and motivate Acquired Brain Injury survivors to participate in our rehabilitation sessions as well carrying out housekeeping duties. The support needs of our clients often relate to cognition, communication, executive function and social skills as well as general life skills.

  • To work with individuals or a small group of clients in order to assist them to participate in community or in-house activities. At all times understanding the effects and consequences that the brain injury has on the individual.
  • To assist and motivate clients to take part in their rehabilitation sessions to improve clients’ confidence and self-esteem, encouraging clients to learn compensatory strategies for overcoming any difficulties related to their acquired brain injury.
  • To support clients to reach all goals, through key working and keeping good quality records of progress

You will have experience of supporting with people with disabilities. You will show a real commitment to the aims and objectives of Headway Black Country in supporting those affected by acquired brain injury and stroke. We particularly welcome applications from individuals with learning or health and social care backgrounds.
