This week we are celebrating Trustees Week by giving all our trustees a big shout out for all their help and support

So what are trustees and why are they so important to a charity?

The Government website explains why our trustees have such a big role to play:

‘Trustees are the people who lead the charity and decide how it is run. Being a trustee means making decisions that will impact on people’s lives. Depending on what the charity does, you will be making a difference to your local community or to society as a whole. Trustees use their skills and experience to support their charities, helping them achieve their aims.’

So we asked some of our trustees why they joined us?

Kavita Nagra explained:

What being a trustee means to me?

I am very passionate about working with charities especially Headway, such a great cause that matters to me. Making a significant difference, supporting and shaping the work of the organisation. I enjoy being part of the team and applying my skills and experience whilst learning from others. KativaClaire Burnell, (a Trustee of Headway Black Country and a Senior Associate, specialist in handling serious and catastrophic brain injury claims within the Personal Injury team at Higgs LLP), said:

“Trustees Week has given me the chance to reflect on my 20-plus years as a Trustee of Headway Black Country.

“I’m extremely proud to have such a long association with a charity which does so much to support adults in the region with acquired brain injury, as well as their families and carers.

“I take my responsibility extremely seriously and it’s a real honour to play a small part in helping Headway Black Country, who provides such a vital service, to function effectively and within the rules and guidelines.”
